An Alfred State College health information technology graduate is being honored with achievement awards in 2010.

Cheryl Wilkins, Wilson, has been awarded the New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Wilkins, who graduated from Alfred State in December 2009, maintained a 3.26 grade point average (out of a possible 4.0).

An Alfred State College health information technology graduate is being honored with achievement awards in 2010.

Cheryl Wilkins, Wilson, has been awarded the New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Wilkins, who graduated from Alfred State in December 2009, maintained a 3.26 grade point average (out of a possible 4.0). Wilkins is a medical transcriptionist at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. She will sit for the national Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam this summer.

Donna Barnard, RHIA, director of health information management, Strong Memorial Hospital, is the 2010 recipient of the New York Health Information Management Clinical Preceptor Award. Barnard actively supports Alfred State’s health information technology program by hosting HIT students in their professional practice experience to provide them with an excellent on-the-job training experience at Strong Memorial and Highland Hospitals, Rochester.

Both will be honored at the NYHIMA banquet in June, which is held as part of the Annual Conference of the New York Health Information Management Association, Inc.
