Fourteen Tracksters Earn All-Region honors

Fourteen members of the Alfred State College outdoor track and field team have earned All-Region honors based on their winning performances at last weekend's Region III Championships.

Fourteen members of the Alfred State College outdoor track and field team have earned All-Region honors based on their winning performances at last weekend's Region III Championships.

Dan Harris (Rochester/Edison) and Jacquie Holmberg (Falconer) earned 1st team honors in three events each.  Harris won the 100 m (10.7) and the 200 m (22.1) and was part of the winning 4 x 100 relay (42.3).  Holmberg won the discus (41.78 m), the hammer throw (37.66 m), and the javelin (32.51 m).

John Chisolm (Burlington, NJ), Angie Corby (Horseheads), and Najia McGee (Rochester, Edison) earned two 1st team honors.  Chisolm won the 400 (50.8) and was a member of the 4 x 100, Corby won the 400 hurdles (1:10.9) and the pole vault (2.76 m), and McGee won the 100 m (12.8) and the 200 m (26.9).

Philicia Harris (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) won the shot put (10.85 m) on the women's side while Tyrell Davis (Mt. Vernon) won the men's side with a toss of 13.48 m. 

Robert Riley (Rochester/Edison) and Alvin Fleming (Eastridge) were also members of the winning 4 x 100 relay team.  Dan Foley (Irondequoit) and Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) tied for 1st in the high jump (1.95 m), Nolan Kearns (Marion) won the long jump (6.39 m), Justin Olson (West Irondequoit) won the discus (37.56 m), and Matt Hand (Genesee Valley) won the hammer throw (47.08 m).

Both the men's and women's team brought home Region III Championships this past weekend and they will both travel to Howard (MD) CC this weekend to compete in the NJCAA Division III National Championships.  Action begins on Thursday and runs until Saturday afternoon.
