FLCC Rallies in Both Games to Down Pioneers

Finger Lakes CC rallied in the 5th inning of both games of a Region III Division III doubleheader to defeat Alfred State 4-2 & 10-4 on Saturday afternoon. In the opener, Alfred led 2-1 heading into the 5th before the Lakers scored three to take the lead for good and in the nightcap the Pioneers led 4-2 before the Lakers scored three in the 5th en route to the victory.

Finger Lakes CC rallied in the 5th inning of both games of a Region III Division III doubleheader to defeat Alfred State 4-2 & 10-4 on Saturday afternoon.  In the opener, Alfred led 2-1 heading into the 5th before the Lakers scored three to take the lead for good and in the nightcap the Pioneers led 4-2 before the Lakers scored three in the 5th en route to the victory.

Eric Hicks (led the Pioneers with a 2 for 3 day while Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) was 2 for 4 in game one of the doubleheader.  Yohei Nishimura (Tottori, Japan) and Garrett Hoag (Dansville) were credited with the RBI in the contest.  Hoag pitched another solid outing but took the loss.  He tossed six innings and allowed the four runs.  He walked four and struck out four.

Hicks continued his hot hitting with a 3 for 4 day.  His two-run single in the 1st inning was one of the key hits in the Pioneers 4-run outburst.  Greg Koller (Chesterland, OH) was 3 for 4 with a double and Joe Dullea (Cold Spring/Haldane) had a RBI single.

The Pioneers (6-29, 5-18 RIII DIII) and Lakers continue their four-game set on Sunday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Alfred State.
