The Alfred State College cross country team competed Saturday at the University of Rochester versus mostly four-year competition.  The men's team finished 10th out of 15 scoring teams while the women finished 14th.

The Alfred State College cross country team competed Saturday at the University of Rochester versus mostly four-year competition.  The men's team finished 10th out of 15 scoring teams while the women finished 14th.

Logan Drummer (Pioneer) was the top male ASC finisher.  He finished the 5-mile race in 102nd place with a time of 28:48.96.  Corey Smith (Wallkill) was 106th (28:54.88), John Sweeney (Barker) was 107th (28:55.73), Peter Francia (Greece Olympia) was 109th (29:01.01), and Adam McDevitt (Fabius Pompey) was 110th (29:01.81).  The men scored a 319 on the day in a race that featured 196 finishers.

Ashley Fung (Greenwich) was top female finisher for the Lady Pioneers.  She ran the 5K course in 20:48.18 to earn 67th place.  Kaleigh Ligoci (Cicero North Syracuse) was 102nd (22:50.12), Maria Wilson (Addison) was 127th (22:50.12), and Bridget McMahon (Avoca) was 138th (23:16.47).  ASC scored a 387 in a race that featured 183 runners.

The Pioneers now move on to postseason action as they race next Saturday at the Region III Championships.  The competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. at Mohawk Valley CC.
