The Pioneers improve to 6-8 (5-7 WNYAC) during the fall season and will play the winner of the #2 Monroe CC/#7 Jamestown CC 1st round game on Saturday.
Travis Noyd (Union Endicott) tossed a complete game five hitter to earn the victory on the mound and improve to 3-1 on the season. He allowed two earned runs while striking out six and walking four.
The Pioneers took the lead in the 2nd inning with a three run frame keyed by a two-run double by Brian Ervay (Elmira Southside). After GCC got on the board in the 4th, ASC answered with two in the 5th when Berto Vargas (Norman Thomas) hit a RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch. The Cougars cut it to 5-3 with two in the 6th but Ray Sova (West Genesee) keyed a two run 7th inning with an RBI hit.
Ervay, Sova, and Vargas each finished 2 for 4 on the day to pace the offense.
The Blue and Gold will have to wait until Thursday to find out their opponent for their semifinal match-up as the MCC/JCC contest was rained out and will be played on Thursday afternoon at Monroe CC. Saturday's semifinal game is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia with the WNYAC final scheduled for 6 p.m.
