Becky Johnson has always been interested in the criminal justice field, especially when it comes to learning about different laws and policies.

This interest led her to enroll in Alfred State’s criminal justice program, which she feels has been the perfect fit. Becky loves that this major allows her to get plenty of real-world learning experiences through indoor and outdoor lab work, as well as educational field trips.

“We’ve seen a real crime lab, we’ve visited a morgue and places like that and seen the different processes they use in their work, so that’s been helpful for me as a student.”

Another way in which Becky has furthered her hands-on education is through an internship with Corning, Inc. that Alfred State helped her secure.

“I was the global security intern, so I focused on threat assessments, crisis prevention, and business continuity.”

In addition to these valuable experiences, another way in which Becky has benefited from her program has been the help she has received from her instructors.

“They really look out for you.”
