Walks and Errors Cost Pioneers

Onondaga CC took advantage of 13 walks and nine errors in a Region III Division III sweep at Alfred State on Tuesday. The Lazers won the opener 13-1 and the nightcap 6-1 in games that featured snow flurries, high winds, and cold temperatures. Read Article

Haiti Revisited

Dr. Doug Pierson, assistant professor in the Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department at Alfred State, will lead the April New Horizon’s Forum with an update on the impact that Alfred State students have had on recovery efforts of the Haiti Health Ministries from the devastation of the January 2010 earthquake. Alfred State students will be traveling to Haiti again in May 2012 for the third year in a row. Read Article

The Alfred State track and field team had a few more athletes qualify for the NJCAA National Championships as they competed at the Nazareth College ROC City Classic on Saturday. Read Article

Pioneer Tripped up by NCCC

The Alfred State baseball team gave up three big innings as they were swept by Niagara CCC in a Region III Division III doubleheader.  The Pioneers are now 3-16 (2-7 RIII DIII) on the season following 11-1 and 17-2 losses. Read Article

Defending NJCAA champion and #1 ranked Onondaga CC raced past Alfred State 34-1 in a Region III contest on Saturday.  The Lazers improve to 7-0 on the season while the Pioneers are now 3-7 (2-6 Region III). Read Article

Lacrosse Team Struggles vs. #4 Genesee

The Alfred State lacrosse team could never get anything going in a 27-6 loss at #4 Genesee CC.  With the win the Cougars have now won seven straight (7-1) while the Pioneers fall to 3-6 (2-5 Region III). Read Article

Pioneers Swept by TC3

The Alfred State baseball team dropped a heartbreaker 3-2 in 13 innings to Tompkins Cortland CC and could not recover in game two as they fell 10-0.  The Pioneers are now 3-14 (2-5 Region III Division III) on the season. Read Article

Students Tackle Real-world Problems

The team utilized heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, and an articulated truck to redirect the Apalachin Creek stream bed and create a berm that will better control any future flooding. Read Article

Football and Softball Teams to Host Bone Marrow Drive

For the third year in a row the Alfred State Football and Softball teams will host a Bone Marrow Registry Drive.  The two previous drives have been larger than most in Western New York State and have averaged 130-140 registered with 40% multi-race (minority) registrants. Read Article

Both Track Teams Ranked 6th in Latest Poll

Both the Alfred State outdoor track & field teams are ranked #6 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll. The Pioneers slipped a few spots from the initial poll last week. Read Article
