Pioneers Stung by Hornets

The Alfred State lacrosse team fell behind early but rallied to tie their contest with Broome CC at 8-8 late in the 3rd quarter but the Hornets scored the next four goals and held off the Pioneers attempts to rally to stay alive for the postseason with a 12-10 victory. The Pioneers are now 6-9 overall (5-8 Region III) heading into their season finale on Saturday while BCC improves to 7-8 (6-7 RIII). Read Article

Thursday afternoon's scheduled softball doubleheader between Alfred State and Corning CC has been moved to Tuesday May 1st with first pitch of the doubleheader slated for 3 p.m. Read Article

Baseball Moves Game to Hornell for Thursday

Thursday's baseball game between Alfred State and Erie CC has been moved to Hornell High School and will start at Noon. The field at Alfred is still snow covered following Monday's storm. Read Article

13th Annual Regional Science and Technology Fair Great Success

Student displays from nine local school districts (Allegany-Limestone, Prattsburgh, Hinsdale, Genesee Valley Central, Addison, Andover, Portville, Canaseraga, Canisteo-Greenwood) were judged at Alfred State’s 13th Annual Regional Science and Technology Fair. Read Article

President John M. Anderson Joins NYCC Board

President John M. Anderson was recently named a board member of the New York Campus Compact (NYCC), an association of over 79 institutions of higher education across New York State that all advocate for “active citizenship as an objective of higher education,” according to the NYCC Web site. Men 3rd, Women 5th in Latest NJCAA Poll

The Alfred State track & field team heads into the postseason this weekend with top five spots in the latest NJCAA Division III poll. The men's team moved up a spot to #3 while the women dropped two spots to #5 in the weekly poll. Read Article

Pioneer Woodsmen’s Team Hosts Pioneer Games

Alfred State’s Pioneer Woodsmen’s Team recently hosted the second-annual Pioneer Games on the Alfred campus, and brought home a first-place victory overall with one of its four teams. A total of 19 teams with 133 participants met for competition. Read Article

More Baseball Schedule Changes

This weekend's baseball four-game series vs. Finger Lakes CC has flip-flopped home dates. Saturday's DH will now be played at Finger Lakes CC with a 1 p.m. first pitch. Sunday's DH will now be played at Alfred with a start of 1 p.m. (If the field at Alfred is still unplayable on Sunday, the game will be played at Bolivar Richburg High School). Read Article

Alfred State Holds 28th Annual Honors Convocation

Alfred State celebrated the achievements of over 290 students at the 28th Annual Honors Convocation. This year’s convocation also featured the presentation of Leadership through Civic Engagement Awards from the College Council to nine student leaders and faculty/staff members Mark Payne, Dr. Douglas Pierson, and Wendy Dresser-Recktenwald.
