Alfred State placed fourth out of 12 teams at the 2012 Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. This is a remarkable achievement given the level of competition from teams sponsored by major northeastern universities and given almost all of the other teams had graduate student members.

The Alfred State lacrosse team raced out to a 5-2 lead after one quarter but Dean (MA) College outscored the Pioneers 11-3 in the middle quarters to grab a lead they wouldn't let up in a 14-11 victory. Dean is now 1-1 on the year while Alfred is 2-1.

The article mentions Automotive Trades students' involvement in the 2012 Green Grand Prix, slated for April 20-21 in Watkins Glen, NY, and racing during Speed Week beginning Aug. 11 at the Bonneville, Utah, Salt Flats.
