Titled “Tying It All Together: An Integrative Model for Strategic Planning, Budget Allocation, and Institutional Effectiveness,” the presentation offered a best-practice model of collaborative strategic planning used at the college. Anderson and Swanson reviewed the “homegrown” creation and implementation of the college’s strategic plan which includes goals, strategies, actions, desired outcomes, key performance indicators, and actual results.

As their final exam, four groups of students (which comprised the class) presented their ideas and strategies for fundraising activities for the local library, the Box of Books. Each project included a base, or event; activities, advertising, volunteers, and cost analyses.

In the true spirit of the season, BP donated the funding for this community holiday event; the United Way and Salvation Army collaborated on identifying those families who could benefit from this event; and the culinary arts faculty, staff, and students volunteered their time to prepare the festive meal.
