March 20 New Horizons Forum to Feature Leon Buckwalter

Alfred State’s March 20 New Horizons Forum will feature , assistant professor, Building Trades, presenting an account of his work on an international team to re-create sections of the 17th century Gwozdziec Synagogue in Poland during the summer of 2011. The presentation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20 in room 215 of the Engineering Technology (SET) building on the Alfred campus. Read Article

Peavey Presents to NODA

Spencer Peavey, director of Student Activities and Orientation at Alfred State, presented “Making IT Happen, Encouraging Student Connections and Civic Engagement” to the attendees of the National Orientation Directors Association in Burlington, VT. Peavey highlighted the steps that Alfred State has taken to incorporate leadership through Civic Engagement in its Orientation and transition programs. Read Article

Stolberg Meets with Honors Program Members

Professor Tom Stolberg of Alfred State’s Business Department met with Honors Program members on Feb. 20 with a simple but startling promise: by using the ‘miracle’ of compounding interest in tax-deferred index accounts held over many years, ordinary people can amass very significant amounts of money by retirement age, even considering current low interest rates. Drama Club to Present Mousetrap

The Alfred State Drama Club will present the play Mousetrap, at the Lake Lodge, Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. followed by an opening night reception; Friday, April 13, a dinner theater performance at Lake Lodge, with dinner beginning at 6 p.m.; and Saturday, April 14, 7 p.m. Cost is $2 for students, $5 for the general public. Cost for the dinner theater performance is $18 per person. A bus will provide transportation between Lake Lodge and Alfred State campus. Read Article

AS Enters Into Articulation Agreements With Variety of Institutions

Alfred State (AS) has entered into articulation agreements with a variety of institutions, including high schools, community colleges, and master-degree-granting universities, in order to promote the easy transfer of qualified students between those institutions and Alfred State. Read Article

CCET to Offer Small Animal First Aid Training Class

As part of Alfred State’s continuing Center for Community Education and Training will offer a small animal first aid training class on Monday, March 26, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. in room 223 of the Agriculture Science Building. NCAA grants exploratory status to Alfred State

The NCAA Division III membership committee announced this week that it has granted exploratory status to the Alfred State athletic program. Alfred State submitted the NCAA application in January. Read Article

Colomaio Photo Exhibit in Library

The Hinkle Memorial Library on the Alfred State campus will host a photo exhibit by faculty member Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at the college, through March 25. A photographer’s reception will be held Thursday, March 1, from 4-6 p.m.  All are welcome. Read Article
