Alumni Choral Spring Concert Scheduled

This year’s concert will also serve to dedicate the Anthony C. Cappadonia Auditorium, honoring Cappadonia’s 56 years of teaching and directing instrumental and choral groups at Alfred State. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:15 p.m. will precede the performance, and the official dedication will occur during the concert’s intermission. Read Article

New Horizons Forum Presentation on ALS

ALS, also called “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a fatal neurodegenerative disease for which there is no known cause or cure. The forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Room 215 of the Engineering Technology Building and is open to the public. The 13th annual Alfred State Regional Science and Technology Fair will be held this Friday, April 20, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Orvis Activities Center gymnasium on the Alfred campus. Read Article

Haiti Revisited

Dr. Doug Pierson, assistant professor in the Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department at Alfred State, will lead the April New Horizon’s Forum with an update on the impact that Alfred State students have had on recovery efforts of the Haiti Health Ministries from the devastation of the January 2010 earthquake. Alfred State students will be traveling to Haiti again in May 2012 for the third year in a row. Read Article

Football and Softball Teams to Host Bone Marrow Drive

For the third year in a row the Alfred State Football and Softball teams will host a Bone Marrow Registry Drive.  The two previous drives have been larger than most in Western New York State and have averaged 130-140 registered with 40% multi-race (minority) registrants. Read Article

Seven Inducted into Psi Beta Honor Society

Seven students at Alfred State were recently inducted into Psi Beta honor society, an organization which promotes interest in the study of psychology at two-year colleges. Students must have earned a 3.0 (out of a possible 4.0) grade point average, including 3.0 in at least one psychology course. Read Article

2012 SkillsUSA Postsecondary Championship Results

Alfred State’s School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, hosted the 14th annual New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition on Saturday, March 24. Competitions took place in automotive service, carpentry, collision repair, commercial baking, culinary, diesel technology, masonry, residential wiring, technical drafting, and welding. Read Article
