In May 2012, ACES brought home some more hardware in the form of another gold award from NACUFS for a catered special event at the Lake Lodge. The Dining Services team is part of Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services Inc. (ACES), the not-for-profit corporation that provides dining services on campus. Read Article

Students Benefit from Work-Grant Program

For award year 2011-12, the foundation provided $9,342.92 in work-study funds for 12 students in the engineering, human resources, international student records and financial services, student activities, and public relations offices. Read Article

Student Presentations Win at ASME Speech Contest

Alfred State students took top honors at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) annual Speech Contest, sponsored by the Olean section of ASME and Dresser-Rand. Six Alfred State seniors attended the competition, which involved three representatives each from Alfred State and Alfred University who report on their senior project/internship experiences. Rhoades Attends FI360 National Conference

His presentation addressed the distinctions between investment adviser and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) fiduciary environments, examining the distinctions between ERISA’s “sole interests” fiduciary standard and the Investment Advisers Act’s “best interests” standard, which governs the general proceedings of investment advisers. Alfred State Shines in 2012 Green Grand Prix

Determined to beat their record from last year, 60 students and four faculty/staff members returned to Watkins Glen International Raceway in April for the 2012 Toyota Green Grand Prix. They brought home another win in fuel economy, second place overall for the Saturday road rally around Seneca Lake, and were awarded the Auto Career Development Center Excellence in Innovation Award.
