The Alfred State College volleyball team won the Mohawk Valley CC Tournament for the third year in a row with a perfect 5-0 record. The Lady Pioneers downed Adirondack CC (23-25, 25-9, 15-8), Herkimer CCC (25-11, 25-20), and Mohawk Valley CC (25-7, 25-11) in pool play before downing Monroe CC (25-18, 25-21) in the semis and Adirondack CC (25-8, 25-17) in the finals.

The Alfred State College football team enjoyed playing on campus for the first time in the program's 13-year history as the Pioneers downed Stevens Tech 21-14 in front of 1,278 fans on Saturday. The Pioneers have now won season openers six of the last seven years.

Saturday's 3 p.m. kickoff will mark the first football game played on the college's new athletic complex and the first game in the programs 13-year history to be played on campus.
