NYS Sen. Catharine Young Secures Funding for Alfred State College Student Center

NYS Sen. Catharine M. Young, (R-Olean) visited the Alfred State College campus recently to announce $33.5 million in funding for a new student center on the campus. Sen. UNI-SELECT Partnership for Automotive Parts Technology Program Reviewed

The School of Applied Technology at Alfred State College is pleased to announce that the relatively new automotive parts technology curriculum, begun in fall 2007, will be offered in an online format beginning fall 2008. Meeting Held to Discuss Faculty Exchange

Representatives from Alfred State College (ASC) met recently with representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Wyoming County Dairy Institute to create an arrangement whereby ASC and Cooperative Extension will conduct a pilot program involving a faculty exchange for the next academic year. Eight Pioneers Earn Academic All-American Honors

Eight Alfred State College athletes have earned NJCAA Academic All-Americans for excellence in the classroom.  Cal Ayers (Letchworth), Keenan Hall (Monticello), Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) were all named Distinguished Academica All-Americans while Kevin Underhill (Somers), Paul Farrell (St. Francis), and Sarah Palmiter (Alfred Almond) were named All-American. Local Educator Selected to Participate in Advanced Placement Program Reading

Dr. Earl Packard, assistant professor and chair of the Mathematics/Physics Department at Alfred State College, was selected to participate this June in the annual reading and scoring of the College Board's AP Examinations in AP Calculus. Read Article

Alfred State to host Summer Camps

Alfred State College is getting prepared to host the annual summer sports festival.  The 2008 version of the sports festival will include the 27th annual day camp and the 40th learn to swim program.  Alfred State coaches will also be sponsoring camps in Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer. Jerome Named WNYAC Co-Freshman of the Year

Alfred State College volleyball player Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) has been named the Western New York Athletic Conference co-female freshman athlete of the year.  Jerome helped the Lady Pioneers to the National Championship Tournament and a 36-6 record. Read Article
