The Alfred State College men's basketball team fell behind by twenty and tried to rally but fell 88-73 to Monroe CC in the Region III Division II Tournament semifinals. Monroe connected was 8 for 15 from three in the first half to take control of the game.

The Alfred State College rallied from a 16-point second half deficit to tie the game at 48-48 with 4:30 remaining but Erie CC finished the game on a 16-5 run to advance to the Region III Division II Final Four. The Lady Pioneers close out the season with a 10-14 mark while the Lady Kats improve to 15-12 and will take on #1 seeded Genesee CC.

Communications has been notified that it was named a recipient of three awards
in the 24th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Competition,
sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report publication. Winning
entries were the Alfred State College total recruitment package (gold); Alfred
State College direct mail advertising visit post card (merit); and Alfred State
College Web site (merit).

New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition
Saturday, March 28, 2009. Proposed categories of competition are
automotive service, CNC milling, carpentry, collision repair technology,
commercial baking, computer maintenance technology, cosmetology, culinary, job
skills demonstration, masonry, precision machining, residential wiring,
technical drafting, and welding.

Essi Corp., a company based in Broussard, LA, supplied Alfred State with a 133db outdoor, omni-directional warning siren which emits a 360 degree beam of sound on a horizontal plane.
