The Alfred State College track and field team had another solid day as they competed at the Houghton College Invitational. The men's team finished on top of the five team competition while the women finished 3rd.

The Alfred State College softball team split a doubleheader at Finger Lakes CC on Thursday afternoon. The Lakers broke a 6-6 tie with four runs in the 4th and 5th inning to win the opener 14-6 but the Pioneers rebounded with a 3-1 victory in the nightcap. ASC improves to 6-8 on the season.

The Alfred State College baseball team opened up Region III Division II play by sweeping Mercyhurst North East, 9-1 & 10-9, on Thursday afternoon. With the wins the Blue and Gold improve to 12-9-1 on the season.

After falling behind 4-1 after one quarter the Alfred State College lacrosse team scored the next seven goals en route to a 14-7 victory over Broome CC on the turf at Alfred State. With the win the Pioneers have won four straight and remain undefeated in Region III play (4-0, 5-1 overall).

Alfred State College sophomores Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) and Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) have been named NJCAA Division II All-Americans. Smith was selected to the 2nd team while McLaughlin was a 3rd team selection.
