On Wednesday, Jan. 20, Alfred State hosted an information session with Dr. Van Dine, Wellsville, retired ophthalmologist, who provided a brief insight into the evolving situation in Haiti. On Friday, Dr. Van Dine will travel to Haiti to assist with recovery efforts. Read Article

Swim Team Falls at Genesee

The Alfred State College swim team opened up the 2010 portion of their schedule on Wednesday with a WNYAC meet at Genesee CC.  The Cougars slipped past the Pioneers 62-46 on the women's side and 73-51 on the men's side. Read Article

Brooks Named Region III Athlete of the Week

Alfred State College sophomore Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) has been named the Region III female athlete of the week for the third time during the 2009-10 season.  Brooks led the Lady Pioneers to two convincing victories last week. Read Article

President Dr. John M. Anderson Reacts to Gov. Paterson’s Budget Issues

Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson recently addressed NYS budget issues with the campus community. During his talk, Anderson characterized Gov. Paterson’s proposed Public Higher Education Empowerment and Innovation Act as “the most profound initiative to positively impact public higher education in New York State since the Nelson Rockefeller era. Pioneers Rally for Victory

The Alfred State College men's basketball team by as many as 11 points with 12 minutes remaining but rallied for a 71-65 victory over JCC-Olean on Tuesday evening.  The victory improves the Pioneers to 8-9 overall and 2-0 in WNYAC action. Read Article

Spring 2010 Opening Remarks

Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson recently welcomed returning and new faculty and staff back to campus for the spring semester. Among the topics he addressed were his trip to China as part of a SUNY delegation invited by the Chinese government as a thank you for hosting the 150 Chinese students whose studies were interrupted by an earthquake in Sichuan province in 2008, Read Article

Caba Begins Second Year at Helm of NJCFCA

Alfred State College Head Football Coach Mick Caba recently completed the first year of a 2-year term as National President of the NJCAA Football Coaches Association. In January, Caba presided over the NJCFCA National  Business  Meeting in Orlando, Florida.  The NJCFCA meetings are held at the American Football Coaches Association Convention each year. Blue & Gold down NCCC

Chris Dalton (Elmira Southside) and Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX)  combined for 10 three-pointers as Alfred State downed Niagara CCC 80-73 in the Pioneers WNYAC opener.  The victory improves ASC to 7-9 on the season. Read Article

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) led three Lady Pioneers in double figures as the Alfred State College women's basketball team downed Niagara CCC 79-47 in their WNYAC opener.  ASC improves to 10-6 on the year. Read Article

Tracksters Open up Season at RIT

The Alfred State College indoor track and field team opened up their 2010 season at the non-scoring RIT Invitational.  The Pioneers had numerous athletes qualify for the Region III Championships on the day. Read Article
