Pioneers split with Kats

The Alfred State College baseball team split a WNYAC doubleheader at Erie CC on Sunday afternoon.  ECC won the opener 6-0 before ASC rebounded to win the nightcap 9-5.   The Pioneers are now 6-4 (5-3 WNYAC) this fall. Read Article

Pay it Forward (JT Robertson)

Alfred State College nursing students welcomed Jon Thomas (JT) Robertson, 11, of Cuba, to one of their classes early in the fall semester to help them kick off the caring project in nursing. The caring project is an outgrowth of the "pay it forward" concept (from the movie by the same name) which promotes the practice of helping others, while expecting nothing in return. Read Article

Chambliss Wins Ted Beyer Award

Dr. Melvin Chambliss, associate professor, Agriculture and Horticulture Department at Alfred State College, has been chosen by the Hornell Area Humane Society Board of Directors to receive the Dr. Ted Beyer Award at the Humane Society's fifth annual "Black Cat Event," Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007. Pioneers swept by Monroe

The Alfred State College baseball team was swept by Monroe CC in a WNYAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.  The Tribunes won the opener 6-0 and collected 20 hits in the nightcap en route to a 19-5 victory. Read Article

Hannah's Hat Trick Leads Lady Pioneers

Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) recorded her first career hat trick as the Alfred State College women's soccer team downed Jamestown CC 6-3 in a WNYAC match on Saturday.  With the win the Pioneers even up their record at 3-3-1 on the year. Read Article

X-Country runs at Houghton

The Alfred State College cross country team competed hard at the Houghton College Inviational on Saturday.  The men's team finished 7th while the women finished 11th. Read Article

A-State Can't Overcome Early Deficit

Hudson Valley CC scored two touchdowns in the games opening seven and half minutes and was able to hold off Alfred State 21-7 in a Northeast Football Conference battle.  The Vikings improve to 3-1 (1-1 NFC) while the Pioneers fall to 2-2 (0-1 NFC). Read Article

Zweygardt Sculpture on Wellsville Campus

Visitors, faculty, staff, and students at Alfred State College's School of Applied Technology are greeted each day by a sculpture by Glenn Zweygardt, professor of sculpture emeritus, NYS College of Ceramics School of Art and Design.  The large-scale, mixed media piece is on loan from the artist as part of a beautification initiative at the Wellsville campus. ASC shuts out Corning

The Alfred State College men's soccer team won their third straight Region III Division III contest with a 2-0 victory over Corning CC on Thursday afternoon.  With the win the Pioneers are now 3-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in Region III Division III play. Read Article

Spikers down Niagara

The Alfred State College volleyball team took care of business in their home opener.  The Lady Pioneers downed Niagara CCC 30-8, 30-18, and 30-19.  A-State improves to 9-2 on the year while NCCC falls to 1-2. Read Article
