Students to Participate in Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

All-Greek GPA Surpasses All-student GPA Fall 2009

The Greeks at Alfred State College have once again smashed the myths surrounding fraternities and sororities by surpassing the all-student grade point averages (GPA) in fall 2009. This major accomplishment has been the result of hard work and dedication by members of the Student Life staff as well as Greek leaders who have encouraged sororities and fraternities to include scholarship and academic excellence as important goals for their organizations. Shedden and Nelson Claim District Crowns

Alfred State College freshmen Eric Shedden (Canton, PA) and TJ Nelson (Somers) claimed Northeast District Wrestling Championships on Sunday afternoon.  Cody Dill (Unatego) and Dan Steiger (Miller Place) earned 3rd place finishes. Read Article

Pioneer Men Finsh 6th, Women 8th at Districts

The Alfred State College men's swim team finished 6th overall and 4th in Region III at the Northeast Districts over the weekend while the women finished 8th overall and 5th in Region III.  The men scored 170.5 points while the women accumulated 73.5. Read Article

Track Team Competes at Cornell

The Alfred State College indoor track & field team competed in the Cornell University Kane Invitational on Saturday.  Over 1,300 athletes representing 20 colleges competed. Read Article

Cougars Rally to Top Pioneers

The Alfred State College men's basketball team led for most of their WNYAC contest versus Genesee CC but the Cougars mounted a second half comeback outscoring ASC 40-25 to earn a 67-61 victory.  The Pioneers fall to 11-16 overall and 5-7 in WNYAC play. Read Article

Genesee CC used a balance scoring attack and a strong second half to down the Alfred State College women's basketball team 79-57 in WNYAC action.  ASC falls to 10-14 overall and 1-7 in conference play. Read Article

Tribunes Top Pioneers

The Alfred State College basketball teams struggled in road contests at Monroe CC.  The men fell 75-54 to the #3 ranked Tribunes while the women were defeated 114-49 by the #13 ranked Lady Tribunes. Read Article

Five Pioneer Wrestling Alum to be Honored

Five former Alfred State College wrestlers will be inducted into the Region III/Northeast District I Hall of Fame on Sunday prior the championship matches of the Northeast District Championships.  Jamie Luckett (2005-2007), Tyler Shephard (2003-2005, Dan Chase (2001-2003), Pat Nolan (1990-1992), and Tony Ferrara (1988-1990) will be honored.
