The WINS Club recently conducted its Spring fund raiser to donate money for perishable items to area food pantries. Three checks totaling $180 were sent to Alfred Station Food Pantry, the Salvation Army in Wellsville, and Steuben Rural Ministry.

Alfred State's Carey Crooker (Addison) and Masanari Yamamoto (Tokyo, Japan) were honored by the Western New York Athletic Conference at the annual athletic director's meeting. Crooker was named the co-freshman athlete of the year while Yamamoto was named the academic male athlete of the year.

Fifty-nine percent of the ’09 graduates who responded to the survey are employed, while 40 percent opted to continue their education. One percent remain available for employment. Among those employed, 87 percent are working in jobs related to their college field of study.

Four members of the 2010 Alfred State College lacrosse team have earned All-WNYAC honors. Ryan Speciale (Corning West) and Chase Bailey (Corning West) were named to the 1st team while James Moss (Hilton) and Nick Young (West Seneca West) were 2nd team selections.

Alfred State College student Patrick VanHaverbeke, Wellsville, was among 17 high-achieving engineering students attending New York State colleges and universities who will receive $45,000 collectively in scholarship money from member firms of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York. The individual scholarship awards range from $2,500 to $5,000.

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., annually funds up to eight Alfred State College students through its work-grant program, allowing students who are ineligible for work-study funds to find employment on campus. The grant is renewable on an annual basis.
