An appropriation of $500,000 was granted this week to Alfred State College pursuant to a request for funding to support a renewable energy technical training center. Now that the bill has been approved by the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee and the full Senate Appropriations Committee, it will move forward to the Senate and Conference with the House and then to the President for signature.

Additionally, the increasing loss of honey bee colonies suffered by the commercial beekeepers that provide pollination services to commercial growers indicates that many food supplies are imperiled. Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at Alfred State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of PAPERBACK PARADE, a quarterly magazine published by Gryphon Books of New York. Titled “Philip Wylie’s Nuclear Nightmare,” the article states that writer Philip Wylie (1902-1971) was an expert on nuclear energy who wrote extensively about the perils of a global atomic war.
