The Hinkle Memorial Library on the Alfred State campus will host a photo exhibit by faculty member Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at the college, through March 25. A photographer’s reception will be held Thursday, March 1, from 4-6 p.m. All are welcome.

Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) hit a three-pointer as time expired to lift the Alfred State men's basketball team to a 58-56 victory over Monroe CC. The victory snaps a Pioneers five game losing skid and improves the team to 7-18 (2-10 WNYAC).

After a slow start, the Alfred State women's basketball team raced past Roberts Wesleyan JV 70-45 in a non-conference tilt. The Raiders jumped out to a 12-7 lead but the Pioneers answered with a 32 to 8 run to close out the half.

As a part of last month’s Dream Week activities, Alfred State and Alfred University coordinated a community service called Day of Service. Twenty-three students, staff, and faculty members from both campuses volunteered at various locations around the area, including, Turning Point Catholic Charities, Hornell; Jones Memorial Hospital and Manor Hills, Wellsville; and St. Jude’s Chapel, Alfred.

The Alfred State women's basketball team saw a double-digit 2nd half lead disappear but was able to score the games final five points to earn a 73-69 victory over Mercyhurst North East in a key Region III Division II contest. The sweet Valentine's Day victory improves the Lady Pioneers to 14-8 overall and 5-3 in RIII DII while MNE is 13-5 overall and 6-1 in RIII DII play.

The Alfred State men's basketball team trailed by as many as 22 points but was able to rally and cut the lead to four but Mercyhurst North East ended the game on a 10-1 to earn a 70-57 victory in a WNYAC contest on Tuesday. MNE improves to 13-11 (5-6 WNYAC) while the Pioneers are 6-18 (1-10 WNYAC).

Because the estimated cost of spaying/neutering 101 animals is $6,000, students hope to help offset that cost by having each Alfred State student contribute 101 pennies toward that goal. Students will be provided a pair of penny wrappers (donated by Steuben Trust) with a request that they are returned with 101 pennies inside.
