Alfred State alumni and friends gathered at the Genesee Valley Club to learn more about the college’s largest comprehensive campaign in school history and to salute the impact that Bill, ’84, and Rhonda Goodrich’s gift of $1 million will make on the institution.

Miranda Fuentes (Bronx, NY) has always loved video games and wanted to learn more and make it her career. Alfred State’s Game and Interactive Design major has allowed her to pursue her passion.

“I chose Alfred State because it is one of the few colleges in New York that has the game program. I really wanted to learn to interact more with it. I wanted to learn to make something that can also bring people together like how it brought me together with a lot of people.”

The Alfred State Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development (RPED) team in partnership with Dream It Do It for Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties hosted 16 Alfred-Almond Students in grades 9-12 interested in the manufacturing field. 

After touring ASK Chemicals in Alfred Station, the group came to Alfred State for a tour, lunch, and hands-on learning in the Engineering Technology building. 

Members of the performing arts ensembles at Alfred State College continued their support of the Mary Cariola Children’s Center by participating in the Walking on Sunshine event. The event is the organization’s largest community fundraiser.

The Alfred State Center for Civic Leadership is hosting a pair of community events in the next couple of weeks. The community is encouraged to join members of the ASC community at both events.

The Alfred State Drama Club is excited to present “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella – Enchanted Edition” as their fall production. Four performances will be held in the Cappadonia Auditorium from Nov. 20-22.

Inspired by the beloved 1997 television version starring Brandy and Whitney Houston, this enchanting stage adaptation brings the classic fairy tale to life with heart, humor, and unforgettable songs.

The Alfred State logging sports team had an impressive debut at the Paul Smith’s Fall Meet. The Open team won their competition while the men’s team finished third.

Nick Costabile-Clemence, Owen Ryan, Owen Wolfanger, Riana Barron, Simon Warriner, and Alex McCarthy scored 1,155 points to take the top spot for ASC in the Open competition. They scored top honors in the Pole Climb, the Bow Saw, and the Horizontal Chop. 

Paul Smith’s College was second with 1,089.2, while SUNY Morrisville was third with 983 points.

Alfred State in partnership with the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) will be hosting a Farm Safety Education Event, Tuesday, Oct. 14 and Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Sarah Welsh from the NYCAMH) will speak with Alfred State's Farm Practicum I class and any interested farmers and guests about pinch points, tractor rollover, PTO hazards, manure pit safety, and other farm specific risks and prevention strategies.

Alfred State College (ASC) is widening its recruiting reach by adding Ohio to the growing list of states where admissions counselors are actively visiting with high school students. The move builds on the college’s great success in attracting students from across the region

Sunshine greeted over 1,000 high school juniors and seniors at the Veterinary, Agricultural, Sciences, and Technology (VAST) career discovery event held at the Alfred State farm. The event organized by the Agriculture and Veterinary department drew students from near and far.
