the play Picasso at the Lapin Agile, written by Steve Martin, Friday,
April 3, at 7 p.m. (a dinner performance at the Lake Lodge), Saturday, April 4,
at 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 5, at 2:30 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center
Auditorium. Admission to the play is $3 for ASC and AU students and
senior citizens; $5 for the general public.

Communications has been notified that it was named a recipient of three awards
in the 24th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Competition,
sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report publication. Winning
entries were the Alfred State College total recruitment package (gold); Alfred
State College direct mail advertising visit post card (merit); and Alfred State
College Web site (merit).

College's School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, will host the 11th annual
New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition
Saturday, March 28, 2009. Proposed categories of competition are
automotive service, CNC milling, carpentry, collision repair technology,
commercial baking, computer maintenance technology, cosmetology, culinary, job
skills demonstration, masonry, precision machining, residential wiring,
technical drafting, and welding.

Essi Corp., a company based in Broussard, LA, supplied Alfred State with a 133db outdoor, omni-directional warning siren which emits a 360 degree beam of sound on a horizontal plane.

Students at Alfred State College who are members of the WINS Club (Women in Non-traditional Studies, though it is open to all students) recently raised money through pop can and bottle returns, enabling them to present a check for $50 to Both Your Hands (a nonprofit organization designed to connect caring communities with poor villages to create self sufficiency and pride in achievement).
