Lady Pioneers Fall in Semifinals

The Alfred State College women's basketball teams 2010-11 season came to an end following a 78-65 loss to #1 seed Genesee CC in the semifinals of the Region III Division II Tournament.  The Pioneers, the #4 seed, conclude the season with a 14-14 mark while the Cougars will take on #3 Mercyhurst North East in the tournament finals on Sunday. 4 x 400 & Lewis Qualify for Nationals

The women's 4 x 400 relay team and Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) qualified for next week's NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships with strong performances at the Collegiate Challenge at the NYC Armory. Read Article

Dr. Steven Jakobi, associate professor, recently had two article published in refereed journals: “Little Monkeys on the Grass…How People For and Against Evolution Fail to Understand the Theory of Evolution,” Journal of Evolution and Outreach, Vol 3, Number 3, 2010; and “An Inexpensive and Safe Experiment to Demonstrate Koch’s Postulates Using Citrus Fruit,” Journal of Biological Education, Vol 44, Number 4, 2010. Lady Pioneers Advance

After a slow start, the Alfred State College women’s basketball team got it going and was able to defeat Niagara CCC 67-59 in a Region III Division II Tournament 1st Round contest.  The Pioneerswill take on the #1 seed Genesee CC on Saturday in the regional final four. Read Article

Pioneer Wrestlers Ready for Nationals
