Once in a lifetime ride in Alfred State Balloon

The 41st annual Great Wellsville Balloon Rally got off to a slow start, but, for one woman, it was worth the wait. Dining with the pilots and crew before the scheduled liftoff Friday night, Eleanor Howe of Hallsport was in great spirits. She’s been waiting well over 60 years to fly in a hot air balloon. Leadership minor available this fall

The minor is intended to expose students to existing courses and experiential credits (internship or practicum experiences) at Alfred State that focus on and/or include leadership topics. Growing interest for Grasstravaganza

Alfred State is hosting Grasstravaganza Aug. 4-6, an event for farmers, conservationists, and consumers who are interested in soil health, grazing, and sustainable agriculture. Dr. Jon Owejan, assistant professor of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology, and Nathan DeMario, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering technology, have invented an advanced cooling system that doesn’t require a chemistry degree to understand how it works; it uses water instead of refrigerants to carry heat out of buildings. Second annual golf tournament raises $27,000

Held June 17 at the Twin Hickory Golf Club in Hornell, the second annual tournament began with a 10 a.m. shotgun start and featured a Captain and Crew format. The members of the winning team were Steve Smith, Charise Nankivell, Mikey Smith, and Kevin Mazanec.  Read Article
