The Alfred State College men's soccer team had a terrific season come to an end on Sunday in a 5-0 loss to Herkimer CCC, #1 seeded and #2 ranked in Division III of the NJCAA, in the Region III Division III Championship game. The Pioneers, #2 seeded and #5 ranked, finish the most successful campaign since the late 1980's with a 14-4 mark.

The Alfred State College swimming team began the 2008-09 season by competing at the Geneseo Invitational. Both the men's and women's team finished 5th in the competition that featured SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, Alfred University, and Monroe CC.

The 2008 Region III Division III women's soccer All-Region team were anounced this week and three Lady Pioneers were honored. Freshman midfielder Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove), freshman forward Jessie Smith (Fredonia) and freshman defender Audrey Rath (Medina) were each named to the second team.

Hiroshi Ozaki (Tokyo, Japan), Caleb Drake (Jasper Troupsburg), Lucas Wales (Bath Haverling), and Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) were 1st team selections while Kevin Arilotta (Churchville) and Jason Durst (Gates Chili) were named to the 2nd team.
