Alfred State Raises Over $7M, Surpasses Fundraising Goal by Wide Margin

One of the largest capital campaigns ever at a SUNY College of Technology, Alfred State College has announced that it has exceeded its $3.4M Centennial Campaign goal by over 100%. At campaign’s end, the College had raised cash and pledges of over $7.5M. The three-year campaign, timed to coincide with the College’s hundredth birthday in 2008, concluded on June 30, 2009, with a preliminary total of $7,564,472 raised. Read Article

Diners Nosh at 3 of Top 10 Restaurant Chains in the Country

College students from earlier times may recall a one-size fits all college dining experience that included little flavor and long cafeteria lines.  Alfred State College students can’t relate.  That’s because ASC student meal plans include dining options at three of the top 10 restaurant chains in the country, based on a recent survey of the top 400 chain establishments published by Restaurants and Institutions magazine in the July 2009 issue. 2009 SkillsUSA Postsecondary Nationals

Twelve NYS SkillsUSA winners (who competed at Alfred State College in the spring) competed at the 2009 SkillsUSA Postsecondary Nationals in Kansas City, MO, June 22-27, 2009.  Of the 12, nine were Alfred State College (ASC) students, two were SUNY Delhi students, and one was a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. Drummond Facilitated Diversity Awareness Training

Dr. Jerri Drummond, Alfred State College associate vice president for student affairs and director of multicultural affairs, recently facilitated a Diversity Awareness Training for 75 Head Start teachers and assistant teachers for the ACCORD Corporation at Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba. Student Laundry Goes Green

Laundry, the bane of college existence, will be become more environmentally-friendly, if not more enjoyable, at Alfred State College this fall. The largest laundry room on campus in the MacKenzie Complex has been completely updated and the results will fit in nicely with the college’s green initiative. Read Article

Pioneers Earn Academic Honors

Twenty Alfred State College student athletes have been honored with academic awards.  Eleven Pioneers were named NJCAA Academic All-American, 13 were named Academic All-Region, and 20 were named Academic All Conference. Read Article

ASC finishes 3rd in Director's Cup and 7th in NATYCAA Cup

The Alfred State College athletic program had strong showings in both the Region III Director's Cup and the NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators).  The Pioneers finished 3rd in the Directors Cup and 7th in the scholarship division of the NATYCAA Cup. Read Article

Jerome Named WNYAC Co-Senior Athlete of the Year

Alfred State College standout volleyball player Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) has been named the Western New York Athletic Conference co-senior female athlete of the year.  She shares the honor with Lindsay Grace (Monroe CC) and Kari Barmore (Jamestown CC). Read Article

Alfred State releases Fall Schedules

The Alfred State College athletic department has published the 2009 fall athletic schedules.  Athletes will begin reporting to campus in the middle of August with games beginning the last weekend of August. Read Article

Weil Resigns Post at Alfred State

Alfred State College men’s soccer and lacrosse coach Todd Weil has resigned from his position in the athletic department.  Weil has spent the past four seasons at the helm of the lacrosse program and the last three seasons guiding the men’s soccer team. Read Article
