In its continuing effort to aid the people of Haiti, another Alfred State campus group, the Campus Round Table (CRT), the central governing board for all Residence Halls on campus, sponsored a campus-wide penny wars competition. CRT members sat in front of The Terrace during the lunch rush and raised a total of $230.63.

Alfred State College sophomore guard Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) has been named 1st team All-Region. Wilson led the Pioneers to a 12-18 mark and the #4 seed in the Region III Division II Tournament. Rasean Parris (Brooklyn/Benjamin Banneker) joined Wilson on the All-WNYAC team.

An Alfred State College health information technology graduate is being honored with achievement awards in 2010.
Cheryl Wilkins, Wilson, has been awarded the New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Wilkins, who graduated from Alfred State in December 2009, maintained a 3.26 grade point average (out of a possible 4.0).

Pam Breedlove (Rochester/East), Bridget McMahon (Avoca), Pete Francia (Greece Olympia), John Sweeney (Barker), and Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) earned the honor.

Joseph Damrath, attorney, Hornell City judge, and associate professor at Alfred State College, has been named a Distinguished Jurist by the Center for Dispute Settlement. He was honored at a luncheon in February.
Damrath, who was among 10 candidates nominated for the award, selected by a panel of judges from the Seventh Judicial District (which includes Steuben County), was cited for using peaceful conflict resolution in his courtroom for the past 15 years, which helps in alleviating court-case backlogs.
