The convocation recognizes the outstanding work of students through acknowledgement of membership in a variety of honor societies as well as the conferment of scholarships and special recognitions. More than 300 students will be honored at this year’s celebration, presided over by Craig R. Clark, ASC interim vice president for academic affairs. The welcome and introduction of keynote speaker Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient 2009 James A. Bradbury, president, Kanawha Scales & Systems, Inc., will be given by Dr. John M. Anderson, college president.

College students can buy and resell their textbooks anywhere these days, but an overwhelming number of Alfred State College students choose to use the Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services (ACES). According to the survey respondents, 82 percent of students purchase their books from the store. ACES runs the Campus Stores at both Alfred State campuses.

Both the men's and women's Alfred State College swim teams finished 14th at the NJCAA National Championships held at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL. The men scored 40 points in the four day competition while the women scored 7.
