“Understanding the Marcellus Shale” Lecture, Oct. 11

“Understanding the Marcellus Shale,” a lecture by Dr. Katherine Klingensmith, professor of biology and environmental science at Keuka College, is the second event in the New Horizons Forum fall series. It will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11 in room 215 of the Engineering Technology Building on the ASC campus from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public. Read Article

ASC Football to play AU JV on Sunday

Due to a cancellation of their scheduled contest at Lycoming, the Alfred State College football team will now play at home on Sunday (10/9) versus Alfred University JV.  Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium. Read Article

Sophomore volleyball player Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) and sophomore soccer player Holli Pierce (Livonia) have been named the ASC athletes of the week by the SID office. Read Article

Volleyball Wins Two of Three

The Alfred State College volleyball team won two of their three matches at the SUNY Delhi pod.  ASC opened up the day by dropping a five-game match to Delhi (25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 12-15) but rebounded for a 3-1 victory over Mohawk Valley CC (25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-11) and a 3-0 win over Herkimer CCC (25-23, 25-10, 25-20). Lady Pioneers Record 8th shutout

The #8 ranked Alfred State College women's soccer team downed Cayuga CC 4-0 to record their eighth shutout of the season.  ASC is now 9-2 on the season and have alllowed just three goals on the year. Read Article

Turnovers Doom Pioneers

Alfred State couldn't overcome seven turnovers (four fumbles & three interceptions) as they fell 31-21 to Globe Institute of Technology in Brooklyn.  ASC is now 2-2 on the year while Globe is 5-1. Read Article

Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., Names Board Members 2011-12

Members of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., gathered recently for the first meeting of the new academic year. The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., is a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State College dedicated to improving the ASC community through the support of educational programs. Pierce Scores Winner in Double OT

Holli Pierce (Livonia) scored 4:02 into the 2nd overtime to lift Alfred State to a 1-0 victory over Erie CC on Thursday evening.  The win improves the #8 Lady Pioneers to 8-2 on the season and 7-2 in Region III Division III play. Read Article

Men's Soccer Suffers Tough Loss

Alfred State and Erie CC battled back and forth for 90 minutes with the decisive plays of the contest coming within two minutes of each other.  ECC netted the lone goal of the contest five minutes into the 2nd half and then denied a penalty kick opportunity less than two minutes later. Lady Spikers Fall in Four

The Alfred State College volleyball team won the opening game 25-22 versus Jamestown CC but could not keep the momentum and fell in the next three games, 18-25, 18-25, 20-25. Read Article
