New Horizons Forum Presentation on ALS

ALS, also called “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a fatal neurodegenerative disease for which there is no known cause or cure. The forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Room 215 of the Engineering Technology Building and is open to the public. Public Invited to Reception at Hinkle Gallery Exhibit “Always Lost”

As part of the exhibit, Alfred State College has included the story of one of its own, US Army veteran Joe Greenthal, ASC Class of 2009, payment services assistant at ASC, whose story is included among the permanent stories in the collection. Read Article

WINS Club Hosts MacCrea, '06,

MacCrea, a project engineer at Dresser-Rand, Wellsville, spoke to students from the Computer Imaging and Architectural Engineering Technology Department about what her job entails, her pursuit of continued education, what is expected in the field, and which courses and college activities could help grads in their jobs. Five New Members Inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

During Homecoming 2011, five Alfred State College athletic alumni were inducted into the athletic department hall of fame.  Swimmer John Meade, track & field athlete Damian Rodriguez, lacrosse player Matthew Covert, baseball player Joe Greany, and swimmer Ashley Vogl will join the 56 inducted athletes. Homecoming/Family Weekend 2011

Alfred State College will once again welcome alumni and families of current students for Homecoming/Family Weekend 2011, Thursday, Sept. 22-Sunday, Sept. 25, on the ASC campus. Hundreds of visitors are expected to converge on campus to reconnect with old friends or visit with their students, perhaps for the first time since dropping them off for the fall semester in August. Local Solar Installers Earn Industry’s Most Prestigious Certification

Electrical Trades Department, Alfred State College, recently earned the industry’s leading recognition of expertise as a certified installer of solar electric systems (aka “photovoltaic” or “PV” systems) from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). Read Article

Pioneers Garner Academic Awards

Several Alfred State College athletes have earned honors from the NJCAA, Region III, and the Western New York Athletic Conference for outstanding academic achievements.  Three Pioneers were recipients of the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement, three more were honored with the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement, 11 were named Academic All-Region, and 15 were named Academic All-Conference. Masonry Students Receive Award for Excellence in Trowel Trades

This award is given to outstanding students in the masonry curriculum. This year’s winners, Jermaine Helire, Auburn, and Brian Johnson, Black Creek, each received $500 checks. Read Article
