Team Effort Lifts Lady Pioneers over JCC

The Alfred State women's basketball team clinched the #2 seed in the Region III Division II Tournament with a total team victory, 62-56 over Jamestown CC. The Lady Pioneers are now winners of eight straight and are 18-8 overall (7-3 RIII DII). Read Article

Peet and Simons Ready for Nationals

Alfred State wrestlers Tyler Peet (Gilbertsville/Unadilla Valley) and Josh Simons (Campbell Savona) are in Rochester, MN for the 2012 NJCAA National Championships. Peet and Simons will hit the mat for first round action on Friday morning. Read Article

NCAA grants exploratory status to Alfred State

The NCAA Division III membership committee announced this week that it has granted exploratory status to the Alfred State athletic program. Alfred State submitted the NCAA application in January. Read Article

Pioneers Can't Hang On

The Alfred State men's basketball team led by 13 at half but was unable to hold on and fell 85-82 to Genesee CC in the final road contest of the season. The Pioneers are now 7-20 overall and 2-11 in WNYAC play. Read Article

Lady Pioneers make it Seven Straight

The Alfred State women's basketball team earned their seventh straight victory on Tuesday with a 86-74 victory over Genesee CC. The Lady Pioneers are now 17-8 overall and 6-3 in Region III Division II play. Read Article

Votava and Giglio Named Athletes of the Week

Indoor track athlete Megan Votava (Alfred Almond) and swimmer Jake Giglio (Hornell) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office. Read Article

Men's Swimming Finishes 4th at Districts

The Alfred State men's swimming team finished 4th out of 11 teams at the 2012 Northeast Districts/Region III Championships. The Pioneers scored 226 points in the three-day event held at Monroe CC. Read Article

Mark Pendelton (Beacon) had a solid day as the Alfred State swimming team closed out competition at the Northeast Districts/Region III Championships on Sunday. Read Article

Jake Giglio (Hornell) and Tyler Sherwood (Elmira Southside) earned 3rd place finishes to highlight Day 2 of the Northeast Districts/Region III Championships at Monroe CC. Read Article

Huge 2nd Half Lifts Lakers

Lakeland CC used a monster 2nd half to ease past Alfred State 94-71 on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers used a 45 to 17 run and tallied 62 points in the 2nd to improve to 19-7 on the year. Read Article
