Alfred State holds 32nd annual Honors Convocation

Alfred State celebrated the achievements of more than 370 students during the 32nd annual Honors Convocation held Sunday, April 17, with Dr. Kristin Poppo, provost, presiding over the event, and SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Mathematics and Physics Lawrence E. 65th annual Alumni Choral Concert to take place April 24

Groups performing will include the Alumni Jazz Singers, ’87 Collegiate Quartet, AAA (Anthony’s A cappella Alliance) and the Alumni Choir. The concert is free and open to the public. Read Article

Alfred State alumni possess ‘most valuable skills’, according to report

Penn State Chaired Professor of Molecular Biology Dr. James Gregory Ferry to speak at Alfred State’s 104th Commencement

Ferry is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and past editor of the Journal of Bacteriology. He has served on numerous national committees and currently is co-chair of the Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Science that advises the federal government on matters of space exploration. New Horizons Forum to feature speakers and film on ALS

The forum will be held at 6 p.m. in the Cappadonia Auditorium of the Orvis Activities Center and is open to the public. Admission is free; however, donations will be gladly accepted at the door. Read Article

64th annual Alumni Choral Concert Sunday, April 26

Groups performing will include “Voices,” the college’s student choral group directed by Linda Staiger; the Alumni Jazz Singers; and the Alumni Choir. The concert is free and open to the public. Read Article

Navy SEAL veteran and transgender woman Kristin Beck to speak March 25

Screening of the documentary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Terra Cotta coffee house, 34 N. Main St., Alfred. Beck will be speaking at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Cappadonia Auditorium in Orvis on Alfred State’s main campus (location change). Read Article
