Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act

New York recently enacted the Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act, which legalized the use and possession of cannabis for adults pursuant to New York State Law. However, using and possessing cannabis on campus in any form remains criminal under Federal Law. All SUNY campuses remain bound by their federal requirements under the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and the Drug Free Workplace Act. Under these laws the use, possession, and distribution of cannabis for any reason is prohibited and subject to student code of conduct or employee disciplinary actions.
