Niki Young was one of three Alfred State employees honored with the Pioneer Award. Along with Bridget Jacobs and Stephanie LaFever, Young was recognized for her work and commitment to Alfred State.

Bridget Jacobs, Stephanie LaFever, and Niki Young received Pioneer Awards for their work and commitment to Alfred State. The trio received a certificate of accomplishment along with a gift.

The Pioneer Award is one of the three components of the College Reward and Recognition Program. These individuals have demonstrated their commitment and dedication to the mission and goals of the college through consistently superior service to students, faculty, staff, and the public. They have made contributions that have had measurable positive impact on college operations, and are seen as positive role models, showing both creativity and initiative that others can emulate. These individuals have demonstrated a consistent level of exceptional performance throughout their employment with the college.

Jacobs, Director of Assessment Accreditation and Program Planning continually goes beyond her job responsibilities for students, staff, and faculty. Her role impacts all departments of the college and requires vast knowledge and expertise.

Her work with accreditation and state program approval means that she must keep an eye on both the college’s ideas and on the requirements of state and our accreditors. She serves on SUNY boards, is recognized for her work state-wide, and she consistently strives to help all members of the college community. During the last Middle State self-study ASC was re-accredited with “zero” findings or recommendations.

LaFever’s commitment to Alfred State is truly extraordinary and deeply felt by everyone who has the privilege of working with her. In her twenty years at Alfred State, she has given her time, talent, and heart to this institution.

In her role as Assistant Director of Admissions, her commitment is rooted in kindness and purpose. She is not simply completing tasks; she is intentionally shaping experiences. Her thoughtful coordination of communication across campus ensures that students receive clear, timely and meaningful messages. Her contributions have played a quiet but powerful role in the college’s success.

Young, a Program Aide in Student Records and Financial Services (SRFS), can be counted on to provide immediate and accurate information in a calming manner. She has advanced within the SRFS Department, taking on more responsibilities.

She knows all the protocols and ensures that we provide all the right data timely to her office. She processes all our student records accurately and efficiently, always has answers or will find the answers for those that call, and is a go-to person within a stellar team.
