Alfred State College (ASC) students, Lesley Chavez (New York, NY), Ian Camp (Honeoye Falls, NY), and Justin Nix (Hudson Falls, NY) traveled to Chicago, IL over spring break to take part in the American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference.
Over 1,900 students were in attendance from college and university campuses across the United States competing in various business/marketing competitions including annual chapter financial reporting, digital marketing, perfect sales pitch, business cases, design lab marketing, and marketing strategy.
Susan Gorman, associate professor of marketing and AMA Alfred chapter advisor stated, “It was a thrill to attend the conference as this was the first time Alfred State business/marketing students attended such a major college event as the chapter was established just 6 months ago. The conference provided our members with the opportunity to network with employers outside of the NY area, engage with students from across the country, and see what type of competitions we can enter for the future."
Students had the chance to hear industry guest speakers from SONY, Ben & Jerry’s, Charlotte Hornets, and Minus 33. They also were able to participate in numerous marketing education sessions and meet with potential employers at a career fair.
On top of bringing the students to the conference, Gorman served as a collegiate judge and was able to see some amazing presentations. “I look forward to our students attending future conferences, competitions, and networking opportunities that being part of the AMA provides.”
