After months of meaningful engagement, campus visits, and growing student interest, Alfred State College (ASC) has officially formalized a partnership with the Brooklyn STEAM Center. The alliance solidifies a natural pipeline between two institutions deeply committed to hands-on, career-focused education.
The agreement includes articulation pathways in Building Trades, Culinary Arts, and HVAC, creating clear and supportive transitions for Brooklyn STEAM students to continue their education at Alfred State.
A series of conversations and campus experiences quickly evolved into something more. Brooklyn STEAM students have increasingly set their sights on Alfred State, drawn by its applied learning environment and strong outcomes in high-demand fields. Visits to Alfred State’s campus, paired with ongoing collaboration between faculty and leadership at both institutions, revealed a shared mission and the opportunity to put that alignment into action.
“We are excited to align with the Brooklyn STEAM Center,” commented Vice President for Enrollment Management Kishan Zuber. “This partnership reflects a relationship that has been building organically. Their students are already seeing Alfred State as a place where they can continue their education and launch their careers. Formalizing this agreement simply makes that pathway clearer, more accessible, and more intentional.”
The Brooklyn STEAM Center, located at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, is a state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) hub offering twelve pathways across five industry sectors. The Center recently expanded its footprint with a grand opening, introducing new programs including a robust HVAC pathway designed to prepare students with industry-recognized certifications such as OSHA 30, NCCER credentials, and EPA Section 608.
Alfred State is proud to be the first educational partner aligned with this new HVAC program, further strengthening its role as a destination for students pursuing careers in the skilled trades.
As part of the partnership, Alfred State faculty and staff will remain actively engaged with the STEAM Center community. Representatives from the college, including faculty from culinary, HVAC, and building trades, attended the Center’s annual Public Showcase on April 30, where they connected with students, provided feedback on projects, and supported students’ professional aspirations. Additional initiatives include hosting STEAM students on Alfred State’s campus for immersive visits and continuing participation in college and career events.
“Partnerships like this help remove barriers and simplify the college planning process,” Zuber added. “More importantly, they allow us to meet students where they are, supporting them early, often, and in meaningful ways.”
The agreement also includes a scholarship commitment designed to make an Alfred State education both accessible and affordable for Brooklyn STEAM graduates. All admitted students who enroll full-time will receive guaranteed institutional support, with additional scholarship opportunities available for high-achieving students.
The Brooklyn STEAM Center delivers innovative, industry-informed experiences that empower students to take charge of their futures while building a diverse and highly skilled talent pipeline.
Through this partnership, Alfred State strengthens that pipeline and provide STEAM graduates with a direct path to continue their education and enter the workforce ready to “hit the ground running.”
