Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) and Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) each earned All-American status on day two of the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The men's team is currently in 5th place out of 17 teams that have scored while the women are in 8th out of 14 teams that have scored.
Omoregie won the high jump with a leap of 1.91 m to earn 1st team All-American honors while Williamson ran a fast 15:35.84 to finish 2nd in the 5,000 m to earn 2nd team All-American honors.
Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) finished 6th in the javelin (43.48 m) while Emily Fields (Red Creek) was 6th in the discus (28.71 m).
Most of the action on Friday was preliminary rounds where numerous Pioneers advanced to the next round on Saturday.
On the women's side, Najia McGee (Rochester/Edison) qualified in the 100 (12.76) and the 200 (26.74) while Caitlyn Peterson (Wayne) also qualified in the 100 (13.24) and the 200 (27.50). Callie Ayers (Letchworth) qualified in the 800 (2:31.55).
On the men's side, Williamson qualified in the 1,500 (4:16.28). Cedric Crowder (Gates Chili) ran a 15.50 in the 110 hurdles while Omoregie ran a 15.51 to move on. Fabiny ran a 23.26 in the 200 to advance and Hector Cuero (Middletown) ran a 1:57.47 to move on in the 800.
Harper College leads the men's competition with 72 points followed by Cobleskill (54), College of DuPage (48), Delhi (42), and ASC (39).
On the women's side Herkimer CCC leads with 50 points followed by Gloucester County College (41), and College of DuPage (31). ASC sits in 8th with 17 points.
