SONO2101: Sonography Observation

Credits: 1

This course introduces students to the sonography department and basic patient care routines. Students observe how a sonography department works, including the roles of the healthcare team members and the steps involved in performing sonographic procedures. They watch how sonographers use the skills needed to operate sonography equipment and maintain safety standards. Students also see how sonographers interact with patients, explain procedures, collect medical history, and obtain procedural consent. Additionally, students reflect on the communication, attitudes, and ethical behavior needed to work in the healthcare environment.

SONO4043: Sonographic Procedures III

Specialized topics include vascular imaging of the peripheral arteries and veins, and carotid arteries, advanced abdominal Doppler exams, fetal echocardiography, pediatric ultrasound, musculoskeletal sonography, interventional procedures, and contrast-enhanced imaging.
