Both Basketball Teams Receving Votes in National Poll

Both the Alfred State College men's and women's basketball teams received votes in the NJCAA Division II poll released this morning.  This is the first time this season either team has been in the poll.

Both the Alfred State College men's and women's basketball teams received votes in the NJCAA Division II poll released this morning.  This is the first time this season either team has been in the poll.

The women's team came into the week with a 11-4 record.  They are led by Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville).  McLaughlin is averaging 21.6 points per game while her teammate Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) is averaging 16.7 points and 13.9 rebounds a game.

The Lady Pioneers took on #10 Genesee CC last evening but fell 73-53.  They will look to rebound on Thursday when they host Niagara CCC.  They then travel to Division I power Monroe CC on Saturday.

The men's team started the week with a 14-4 record and winners of six straight games.  Dusty Marshall (Newfield) leads the team with 14.9 points per game while Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) has played strong lately and is averaging 10.4 points and seven rebounds.

The Blue and Gold fell to Genesee CC last evening 88-80 but will host Niagara CCC on Thursday before taking on #9 Monroe CC on Saturday.  WNYAC foe Erie CC is also ranked this week at #12.
