The Alfred State College softball team lost an extra inning affair 7-6 to Rochester (MN) CTC in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Lady Pioneers scored a run in the top of the 8th to take a 6-5 lead but the Hornets scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning with two outs to win the contest.
Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) was 1 for 5 with 2 RBI and pitched all eight innings. She allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out six. Leandra Spor (Laurens) was 1 for 2, Holly Fitzpatrick (Hornell) was 1 for 3, and Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) scored three runs.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader vs. Dutchess CC was rained out.
ASC is now 0-2 on the season and continue their spring break trip with doubleheaders the next three days.
