Reynolds Wins National Championship, Gross finishes 4th

Alfred State College sophomore Dan Reynolds won the pole vault title at the NJCAA National Championship at Texas Tech University.  Freshman David Gross (Brockport) also scored points for the Pioneers with a 4th place finish in the shot put.

Reynolds' vault of 15'5.75" (4.72 m) proved to the winner as he became the Pioneers lone National Champion.  Coming into the meet his best performance of the season was 4.50 m at the Kane Invitational.

Gross re-broke his own school record with a toss of 53'7" to earn 4th place in the shot put.  In the weight throw he finished 11th with a toss of 13.73 m.

Schuyler Duross (Johnstown) finished 14th in the heptathlon with 3,961 points while Wenley Louis (West Irondequoit) finished 27th in the long jump with a leap of 6.62 m.

As a team the Pioneers finished 14th out of 29 teams that scored in the event with 15 points.  ASC was the top Region III team in the meet.  The NJCAA National Championship features both scholarship and non-scholarship athletes.
