Ty has earned the credits to help land his dream job in the big city.

After discovering an interest in finance in high school, Ty Kunzer-Borrelli (Rochester, NY) was drawn to Alfred State’s accounting program. He chose the program because it offered an affordable education close to home to kickstart his pursuit of the profession.

"I've always been interested in how money works. Where it comes from, where it goes, and how businesses manage it."

Ty has been able to progress from financial and managerial accounting to tax and advanced accounting courses. As class sizes become smaller in the upper-level courses, students benefit from increased interaction with both professors and classmates.

"The smaller classes give you more one-on-one time with your professors and help you build strong relationships with your peers."

The faculty brings real-world industry experience into the classroom and prepares students for careers after graduation.

"The professors are very knowledgeable and make the material relevant by connecting it to what you'll see in the accounting profession."

Ty serves as a peer tutor which allows him to help fellow students strengthen their understanding of accounting concepts.

"Peer tutoring has made me a better student because it's taught me to explain concepts from different perspectives."

Ty will complete his first accounting internship with a company in Rochester, allowing him to take another step toward his goal of becoming a corporate accountant for a Fortune 500 company.

Ty has earned his credits to help land his dream job in the big city.
