Alfred State honored approximately one-hundred students at Commencement ceremonies held at the Northland campus in Buffalo.
Jennifer Noble, the Assistant Dean for the School of Applied Technology, presided over the ceremony that featured addresses from Stephen Tucker, President and CEO of the Northland Training Center, Alfred State President Dr. Steven Mauro, and Vice President for Academics Dr. Carrie Cokely.
“Nothing worth doing is ever going to be simple,” commented student speaker Ryven Duell-Livingston, a welding technology major. “If it isn’t challenging, then there wouldn’t be anything to be gained. Building your skills is like building a muscle, and if you have the opportunity to flex it, you should keep pushing.”
They continued, “We are all here because we didn’t quit when maybe it would’ve have been a lot easier on us in the short term. We should all be proud of ourselves for making it this far.”
Dr. Mauro added, “As you close this chapter and begin a new journey, remember that the future is filled with opportunity. Dream boldly, work passionately, lead with integrity, and strive to make a positive difference in the world around you.”
The Northland campus offers associate degrees in CNC manufacturing and machine tool, electrical construction and maintenance electrician, and welding technology on the east side of Buffalo, NY. Graduates were announced by their career coaches as they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.
The Northland Workforce Training Center opened prior to the 2018-19 school year.
