A group of four Alfred State Technical Communication students presented their capstone projects at the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference.

A quartet of Alfred State technical communication students presented their capstone projects at the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) held at SUNY Upstate. 

Edlande Edouard, Olivia Jodush, Kirsten Merritt, and Madigan Harris represented Alfred State at the 13th annual conference. 

  • Edouard delivered a poster presentation on "UX Research for a Loan Budgeting App"
  • Jodush gave an oral presentation on "Accessibility Software: Determining Usability and Equal Access for All"
  • Merritt did a poster presentation on "Analyzing the Impact of Social Media User Experience and Student-Athlete Recruitment"
  • Harris presented a poster on "BookTok: How Does TikTok’s User-Centered and Participatory Design Encourage Trust, Credibility, and Peer-Based Knowledge Sharing?"

SURC is a multidisciplinary spring semester event bringing together undergraduate students and faculty mentors from across the SUNY system for a full day of student presentations, keynote speakers, and professional development workshops.

SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. welcomed the student presenters and Dr. Stephen Faraone, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, delivered a keynote address.

The quartet was mentored by Travis Matteson, English and Humanities Chair and Associate Professor.
