The Alfred State men's swimming team finished 4th out of six teams at the Monroe CC Invitational. The women's team finished 5th.
Mark Pendleton (Beacon) led the Pioneers with a 2nd place finish in the 1650 free (19:42.78). He also finished 4th in the 200 breast (2:41.14) and 6th in the 100 breast (1:14.91). Jake Drew (Victor) was 4th in the 100 back (1:09.61), Josh McDowell (Wayland Cohocton) was 5th in the 50 free (24.96) and 6th in the 100 fly (1:05.96), and Tyler Easterbrook (Bath) was 5th in the 500 free (5:48.96).
The 400 medley relay team of Drew, Pendleton, McDowell, and Easterbrook finished 4th finishing in 4:23.76.
Maggie McBurney (Syracuse/Jamesville Dewitt), the lone Lady Pioneer in action, finished 5th in the 500 free (7:09.06), 6th in the 200 IM (3:06.11), and 8th in the 100 back (1:26.82).
The men's team scored 131 points on the day while the McBurney scored 24.
Alfred heads to Jamestown CC twice this next week. They swim vs. JCC in a WNYAC dual meet on Wednesday and then head back on Saturday for the Jayhawk Invitational.
