The Alfred State Trap team took first place in the USA College Target League Class 1A Conference 6. The team featured twenty-seven students.
Ashley Burrows was the top female performer in the conference while teammate Teresa Cicora was second. Burrows who averaged 24.10, was also second in the entire nation, just ahead of Cicora who averaged 23.90 and ranked third in the nation.
On the men’s side, Justin Jerome averaged 25.0 was top ranked in both the conference and the nation while Daniel Clark was ranked second in the conference and sixth in the nation. Clark averaged 24.2 for the season.
“We had a great spring season, and I am proud of our team,” commented Head Coach Brad Smith. “This program has come a long way in a short period of time. I look forward to our returners continuing our upward climb and adding new members to our program in the fall.”
The team scored 4,270 points over the five weeks of competition. They had a season best, 898 points during week four. Alfred State competes in a conference with Bethany Lutheran College (MN), Illinois College (IL), Indiana Wesleyan University (IN), Maine Maritime Academy (ME), the University of Minnesota Crookston (MN), and Valley City State University (ND). Illinois College was second with 3,125 points followed by Minnesota Crookston with 3,031.50.
