A group of soon-to-be Alfred State graduates gathered to celebrate the jobs they will start after commencement. The fourth annual Signing Day event, organized by the Career Development Office, highlighted the launch of new careers for these students.
Students and their employers posed for pictures, enjoyed a meal with each other, and were able to start building relationships while networking with other students and employers.
“This is such a rewarding evening,” commented Senior Career Development & Planning Associate Valerie Case. “It is a full circle moment as many of the students that signed today have connected with the services we provide in our office throughout their time at Alfred State.”
Case continued, “We are thankful for the relationships that we have built with employers. It is amazing to see them come back year after year and celebrate their new Alfred State employees. This event continues to grow and is a highlight of the year for our office.”
Alfred State’s Signing Day event has been recognized by the SUNY Student Affairs Office for excellence in student affairs programming and the concept has been presented to other colleges at a regional career development convention.
The Career Development Office hosts Career Fairs on both the Alfred and Wellsville campuses each semester, fostering connections between students and potential employers. Students and alumni are invited to use the tools offered by the Career Development Office.
Alfred State boasts a 99% employment and continuing education rate.
A Signing Day video will be featured at the beginning of the 2026 Commencement ceremony on May 9.
